Michelle Yang

Michelle Yang : The Art of Visual Notetaking

Your everyday life is inundated with information and choices.  There are signs and apps and advertisements that you are expected to pay attention to wherever you go.  You have likely also been taught to write notes and keep lists from a young age, adding on top of the information overload.  With the amount of information you are supposed to keep track of constantly increasing, how can you  keep your focus and remember the important things?

Michelle Yang, Visiting Research Scholar, will teach you how to visually take notes: info-doodling, a method of note taking that combines images and words.  This process not only strengthens your  memory but also helps with comprehension.  Visualization has been proven to be a powerful tool in many fields.  It is especially relevant to education where attention, comprehension and  application are all major issues.

What are the rules of thumb and basic elements of info-doodling?
What are some strategies to strengthen comprehension and memory?
What will you create as your first professional visual note during the lecture?

Please bring writing utensils and paper to practice on. An excerpt of something you would like to take notes on would be great!

April 13, 2017 from 12:00-1:30pm.
The lecture will be streaming live!
Hosted in G165 (The Agora Space) at Discovery Park.  Ample parking available! Free food and drinks.
